THE BERG HOME
drawing transfer

Prior to arriving on site I determined the colors, quantity, and type of paints that would be needed and ordered them, having them drop shipped to the clients' residence. I used liquid acrylics from GOLDEN Acrylic Colors mixed as needed with matt glazing medium. While the acrylics are more difficult to blend, especially over large areas, their porous nature allows the wall to breath, which is especially important in a humid bath area.

The sketches were enlarged 400% then redrawn in greater detail before enlarging them to their final size. Using a large format copier, the drawings were copied in strips, then taped together on location and affixed to the walls in their proper place.

Once in place, a chalked transfer sheet was taped to the wall beneath the drawing in the area where I would be tracing. As I moved over the drawing, I moved the transfer sheet with me until I had copied the entire image onto the wall. I employed the same process on the entrance mural. However, in the dressing room I was to paint the mural over the six panel door. Therefore, a small drawing was projected onto the wall and drawn in directly with pencil. The less detailed nature of this mural made this possible.
