After reviewing the main mural sketches and having had time to think more about what they really wanted, the clients decided that the initial concept was too agrarian: they wanted something more elegant and architectural. But at the same time, the first sketch seemed to them too idyllic as well. We discussed giving the scene a more aged look, but this began to interfere with the crispness of the marble in the bath and with the overall vision which we were pursuing. During another meeting with Mrs. Berg I showed her the sketch below, which I had initially withheld, fearing that it was more than they would agree to. It was based upon the pool and related architecture at Hearst Castle in California. She immediately fell in love with the idea

After discussions with Mr. Berg, they decided to pursue this type of scene, but with more the look of the Greek landscape: rockier and with fewer trees than the California scene. They also decided against the two sculptural figures in the foreground, and wanted the scene closer to the viewer, which necessitated a first floor perspective. Fit into the room's space, the mural took on the look of the rough sketch below.

The other murals remained basically the same, except that they wanted the dressing room image to mimic the view off of the balcony of the hotel they stay in when vacationing in Santarini, Greece. Thus, that scene began to personalize the space, taking them to a favorite travel destination whenever they entered. Now to develop these new images into proper perspective drawings that could be enlarged and transferred to the walls.
