Once the drawings were completed, I began painting color directly onto the wall. The work below was completed in one day. Of course I was working 15 hour days... so thats more like 2 days. To blend the graduated blue of the sky, I began by premixing four values of blue in foil containers with lids. I began painting the darkest color at the top, then I used the matt glazing medium to work the second value into the first, the third into the second and so on until I reached the bottom. The glazing medium allowed for transparent overlaying of colors throughout the mural to create rounded forms and depth of color.
