This color sketch in watercolor was the basis for the mural in the dressing room.
But greater depth of color and detail were used for the final image.
For those considering this kind of work, I do not recommend painting any kind of detailed work over a six panel door: the panels greatly distort the image and are difficult to paint over. If a client wants a door painted over in the future, I will request that they replace the door with an inexpensive flush door. This also allows them to more easily change the decore in the future. Instead of stripping the mural off the six panel door, they can simply remove the flush door and reinstall the original six panel.
