The Artist's Studio

Throughout the years, I have worked in various areas of my parent's house, my apartments, and finally my own home. The spaces have varied from corners of our cold unfinished basement to the living room. Most recently my office / studio space was a 10' x 10' area in the small living room of my home. My computer room and storage were in a third bedroom upstairs, and other equipment was stored in the basement of my home. When I got married, my wife squeezed into the house and allowed me to maintain my work areas. But with the birth of our first child, I thought it best to remove my workspace from the house to prevent our children from being endangered by the paints, varnishes and other dangerous materials and tools to which they might have access once they started to crawl and eventually walk.

In the spring of 2000 our old 18' x 20' garage was demolished to make way for a new 24' x 28' garage with a loft above for my new studio. In this space I would combine office, computer, studio and storage. To see the floorplan and pictures of the finished work area, click the links below.
