Here we see the artist further softening and blending edges with a flat brush, modeling the edges of the lights into the halftones of the shadow.
Then he developed more form and general shapes of features into the lights.
Huihan will use any tool to create the effect that he wants, often smudging, smearing, blurring and blending the paint with pieces of paper towel, brushes of various styles and sizes, and even his fingers, as seen here.
