When working from life, Huihan proposes finding the angles and the points of angular change within the form than distinguish the position, length and direction of the large forms.
Here he began by first finding the bottom of the model's hands and drawing a line. Then he moved onto the top of the hat, deciding ahead of time that he would have it move off the frame of reference. From there he began sizing the figure to fit between these two points, laying in the length and angles of the arms - wrist to elbow, elbow to shoulder, and so on.
