ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I am inspired to paint by all that the world has to offer, in the feast of visual and emotional experience. As life inspires concept, I imagine what visual form could most perfectly depict that idea in a dramatic way. I transform ideas into images and symbols. The ongoing pursuit of technical mastery equips me to freely express my artistic vision. It is my goal to skillfully paint the essence of a thing in such a way that it touches the heart of the viewer.

I am moved by the struggle between joy and sorrow; the narrative history of every human life with its challenges and victories. Beyond pain and suffering, beauty still exists. And in experiencing beauty, we learn that life is worth living.

Through the medium of oil paint I find versatility and freedom of expression. I enjoy the contrasts that create impact and illusion. My goal is to pursue connection with the viewer, to push past image to experience.
